Aaron Lloyd Scarborough Sr.

Graveside services for Aaron Lloyd Scarborough Sr. will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at 3:30 p.m., at Hamrick Cemetery in Collinsville. Brother Virgil Walters will officiate, with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Scarborough, age 93, of Collinsville, passed away October 10, 2016, at Fisher House.

Lloyd was born January 30, 1923, in Collinsville to Joseph and Roxie Scarborough. He was a co-founder and deacon at Oakdale Missionary Baptist Church. As a teenager, he quit school to help take care of his family and went to work at the shipyards in Pascagoula. After moving back to Collinsville, he went to work at Dickey Clay. He also worked as a cutter at Union Shirt factory and Pass Christian Shirt factory and eventually retired from EMEPA as a dispatcher after sixteen years of service.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Carol Scarborough; children, Diane (Herbert) Poole, Susan Huey, and Aaron Scarborough Jr; grandchildren, Brandi Watson, Belinda Hoffer, Jennifer Everett, Erin Nicholson, and Bethany Benson; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bill Huey; siblings, Bessie Kinard, Lattis Scarborough, Lora White, Essie Collins, Mae Pryor, Arvon Scarborough, Alice Shows, Martha Elmore, Lamar Scarborough, and A.V. Scarborough.

Pallbearers will be grandson-in-laws, Aaron Watson, Kurt Hoffer, Jamie Nicholson, Blake Everett, John Mark Benson, and nephew, Rodney Scarborough.

Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Walker Hoffer, Cole Everett, Wesley Everett, Christopher Nicholson, Jake Watson, and Jeremiah Watson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Mavis, Minnie, Wendy, and the Fisher House staff for their compassionate and loving care.
