Alex William Day Graveside service for Alex William Day will be held Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Church Cemetery in Kemper County, with Father Frank Cosgrove and Brother Jack Giles officiating. Burial will be in Zion Church Cemetery. Mr. Day, 23, of Meridian died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a graduate of West Lauderdale High School and attended Meridian Community College. Mr. Day loved spending time with his son and family and he also enjoyed playing the guitar. Mr. Day was employed with Van Zyverden and was a member of St. Patrick Church and Church of The Way. Survivors include his son Austin William Day of Meridian, mother and father Alan and Suzanne Day of Meridian, two sisters Shannon Richardson and husband Justin of Meridian, Ashley Gentry and husband Justin of Meridian, paternal grandmother Mary Day of Meridian, maternal grandparents Richard and Kathryn Gough of Meridian, aunts and uncles Dianne Buchanan, Katie Gough, and Charles and Glenda Gough, several cousins and Rebeka Eldridge. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Frank Day, and uncle Chris Day. Pallbearers will be Justin Richardson, Justin Gentry, Charles Gough, Harrison Gough, Victor May and Scotty Smiley. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Patrick Church or Church of The Way.
