Ms. Gibson, age 89, of Meridian, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a retired homemaker and licensed beautician. She was born in Union County, Tennessee, the fifth of six children, born to her parents, William and Bell Snodderly. At the age of seventeen, she became a licensed beautician. A few months before her twenty-second birthday, she married, Marvin Gibson, the man God led her to marry. They moved to Meridian where they built their home and raised their three children. She will be remembered as a woman who loved her Lord and served in her church at various times as: Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher; WMU director and church clerk. She loved to use her beautiful voice to sing the old Christian hymns that expressed her faith in her Lord Jesus. She believed in evangelistic missions and gave a large part of her income to spread the gospel message. Some years ago she felt the Lord urging her to write a manuscript titled "Journey of Faith" with chapters such as: submission to God's will, God's bountiful supply, faith, and the price of revival. Survivors include her daughters, Towanda McLelland and husband, Franklin of Butler, Alabama, and Velda Peeples and husband, Jerry of Louise, Mississippi, a son, Kent Gibson and wife, Sarah of Meridian, Mississippi; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a daughter-in-law, Becky Gibson; and a sister, Orphia Hickey of Whitwell, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Marvin Gibson. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
