Anna C. "Beezy" Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna C. “Beezy” Johnson will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Davis, Bro. Gilbert Eaves, and Dr. Marcus Finch officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson, 90, of Meridian, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Meridian Community Living Center.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where she taught the same women in her Sunday school class for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the church choir which brought her much joy. She was known to sing at many weddings, and it was often said “You weren’t married if she didn’t sing at your wedding.” She was also given the title, Mamaw, by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Beezy is survived by her sons, Jimmy Johnson (Cheryl), John Johnson (Peggy), and Jeff Johnson (Kelly) and son in law, Roy Copeland. Nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Baer, and one brother, Bobby Cooper (Jeannie), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Jim Johnson, her daughter, Judy Copeland, and her parents Rueben and Kara Cooper as well as four siblings; Richard and Roy Cooper, Sakie McGuire and Nonie Davis.

Pallbearers will be Robert and Russell Crouch, Chucky Greenlee, Karl Motley and Mervis and Donald McCollum. Honorary pallbearers Craig Crouch, and Brady Rushing.

The family requests donations be made to the Baptist Children’s Village in lieu of flowers.
