Funeral services for Mr. Arnold B. Culpepper will be Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 12noon at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with the Bro. Kenny Pogue of Pine Grove Church officiating the service. Burial will follow the service at Hamrick Cemetery in Collinsville with Bro. Tommy Espey officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Culpepper, 78, a Martin-community native and long-time resident of Collinsville, passed away April 2, 2019 at the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) Hospital.
Known affectionately to many simply as "Papaw," Mr. Culpepper's faith, commitment to family, and honest work ethic set the foundation for a circle of extended family and friends who are better for knowing and loving him.
Mr. Culpepper was an avid hunter and enjoyed time in the great outdoors. He graduated from Center Hill Community School where his was well known for his basketball skills. He worked for 36 years at James River in Naheola, Alabama before opening several small businesses in the steel, motorhome/RV, and car sales industries in the Collinsville community.
A member of Pine Grove church, Mr. Culpepper will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend; most importantly, he will be remembered as a man who loved the Lord and his family fiercely. He leaves a family legacy of that love spanning four generations.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Hitt Culpepper; children, Chad Culpepper (Ellie) and Paula Culpepper Rhodes (Rodney) of Collinsville, and Gina Culpepper White (Eddie) of Bay Springs; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond (Laverne) and Mike (Dianne) of Martin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Culpepper was preceded in death by his parents, William 0. and Lorene Herrington Culpepper; sister, Willie Mae Hodges; brothers Landis and Rusty, and brother-in-law Roderick Hitt.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Culpepper's grandsons and grandsons-in-law: Andrew Culpepper, Chris Roberts, Daniel Roberts, Joshua White, Kyle Rhodes, Davey Walker, Bryan Hamil, Stephen Kennedy, and Gareth Driskill. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the "Monday Morning Coffee Club" and Mr.
Wayne Campbell.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials and gifts be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Visitation will be at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 12noon.
