Funeral services for Jack Mears will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

For nearly nine years, he has been running toward Heaven to be with the love of his life and on July 16, 2022, Arnold Jack Mears was reunited with his Doris. Jack passed away in Meridian, MS, at the age of 94.

Arnold Jack Mears was born April 23, 1928, in Prichard, Alabama. He was raised by his parents, Thelma Jones Mears and William Levin Mears, alongside his ten siblings. Jack graduated with the class of 1945 from Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama. After serving his country in the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Evelyn Hatch. Always determined to provide the best life he could for his family, Jack worked several different occupations over the years, often overlapping them to further insure the stability of his family. Along the way, he made a plethora of friends and associates. He is well known for his talent hanging wallpaper and often used his talent with woodwork to create special pieces for those he cared about. Jack retired from the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier in 1992 and then bonded with his "golfing buddies" who were like family to him in the Senior Golf Association at Lakeview Golf Course. Jack was a strong man of faith and served as Deacon at Meridian Church of Christ. He loved his church family and faithfully attended services until he was physically unable, at which point he began watching the services from home.

He leaves behind his devoted caregivers: daughter, Brenda Mears Smith and son-in-law Ron Smith as well as: sister, Gay Hendrickson, son, Ronnie Mears (Nancy); son, Robert Mears; five grandchildren: Bill Mears, Steve Mears (Lizzie), Rhonda Kavan (Brad), Laura Smith (Aaron), and Manda Conerly (Jonathan); and seven great-grandchildren, which he considered "the crown jewels of his life": Laura Beth Mears, Julie Ann Mears, Mary Grace Mears, Hannah Claire Smith, Zane Smith, Eli Kavan, and Presley Gail Conerly.

Arnold Jack Mears was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Evelyn Mears, his parents, Thelma and William Levin Mears Sr., as well as all but one of his siblings: Elaine McCrany, Frances Weaver, Shirley Mears, Juanita Mears, William Levin Mears, Jr., Elizabeth Till, Teddy Mears, Gene Mears, and Infant Mears.

Pallbearers are Ron Smith, Bill Mears, Jonathan Conerly, Aaron Smith, Brad Kavan, and Robert Mears.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be gratefully accepted by Pine Vale Children's Home, 1872 County Rd 700, Corinth, MS 38834.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at the funeral home prior to service time.
