Arthur Andrew “Andy” Dowdle, 82, passed away at home, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well lived. He was the husband of Anne Self Dowdle for 59 years. Together, they reared two daughters, Courtney Milan (Stuart) and Jennifer Rawson (Scott), who carry forward his kindness, wit, and devotion to family.
Andy had a natural gift for connecting with people, which made him a standout in his career selling commercial glass. His dry sense of humor and personality made him a successful salesman. Throughout his career at Binswanger Glass Company, Andy earned numerous accolades, including multiple Southeastern Regional Sales awards.
He was a proud US Marine and served in the reserves for approximately six years.
Beyond his professional success, Andy found joy in the simple pleasures of life—playing golf, reading, and cheering on both the Alabama Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers with equal enthusiasm. He also shared a deep bond with his beloved dog, Miss Zoey, whose companionship brought him great comfort and daily joy.
Andy, who was born in Tuscaloosa, AL, is preceded in death by his parents, Gayle Booth Dowdle and C.R. Dowdle, as well as his brother, Wade Dowdle, of the Washington, D.C. area.
He is survived by his wife, Anne; his daughters, Courtney and Jennifer; and his treasured granddaughters, Megan Taylor DuPont, Miriam Gayle Milan, and Liv Clare Milan; his brother, Wayne Dowdle.
Andy Dowdle will be remembered not only for his accomplishments and humor, but for the love he gave so generously to those around him. He will be deeply missed.
The Dowdle Family suggests memorials be made as donations to East Mississippi Animal Rescue or to a church or charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
Private services celebrating Andy’s life will be held at a later date. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with final arrangements.
