Barbara Moore Alligood

Barbara Moore Alligood, 89, formerly of Norfolk, passed away May 3, 2023, in Meridian, Mississippi. Born in North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John A. LaClair and Bernice A. LaClair. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Ben Hines Moore; her second husband of thirty-five years, Jack H Alligood; daughter, Synova Moore Westbrook; and brother, John E LaClair.

Mrs. Alligood worked in the business office at Sears for over 50 years until her retirement. After retiring from Sears, she was a bookkeeper for her husband's business route through Flowers Baking Company.

She is survived by her daughters, Charlene Moore Anderson (Scott); Misti Lynn Wheeler (Dave) and Gina Marie Thompson (Mark). She had 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

One of her greatest joys was going to the beach in Pensacola with her family. She has always had a love for animals and her beloved dog, Buddy, has brought her much love and comfort. She cherished her FaceTime calls with her grandchildren weekly.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Saturday May 13, 2023, at the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. There will be a visitation for family and friends one hour prior to services from 11:00 until 12:00. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.
