Services for Barbara Lee Downey will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Causeyville Baptist Church with Reverends Gilbert Eaves, Bill Webb and Ron Mercer officiating. Burial will be at Causeyville Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Miss Downey, 69, of Causeyville, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

She was a member of Causeyville Baptist Church, where she had played piano for several years. She attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Anthropology. Upon returning to Causeyville to assist in the care of her parents, she worked in the Office of the Lauderdale County Tax Assessor, and graciously assisted as receptionist for her sister-in-law at Donna C. Downey, CPA, PA. Miss Downey was an active volunteer with the Causeyville Community Development Club, assisting with the Volunteer Fire Department's annual Causeyville Day.

Survivors include her mother, Mattie Lee Irby Downey; brother, Charles Ray Downey and his wife Donna (Crosby), all of Causeyville; many cousins; and special friends, Mary Rogers, Toby Newton and Lula Scarbrough.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Ray Downey.

The family requests memorials be made to the Causeyville Baptist Church Building Fund, 6192 Causeyville-Clarke Rd, Meridian, MS 39301.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept 8, 2017 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home and at Causeyville Baptist Church 30 minutes prior to the service.
