Funeral services for Mr. Bennie Hagwood will be held Monday, May 13, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Jones officiating. Burial to follow at Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Bennie Hagwood, age 82 of Meridian, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Regency Hospital. He had a strong love for antique cars and spent much of his time restoring them. Bennie loved people and was a major jokester. When he was around his family and friends, he was always making them laugh with his constant jokes. He had many stories and loved to share them with everyone. Bennie retired as a law enforcement officer with the Mississippi Department of Transportation in 1999. Bennie was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kaye Hagwood; son, Marty Hagwood (Kim); daughter, Missy Hagwood (Kenny Weir); grandchildren, Shea Swanner (Jeff), Derick Dyer, Daniel Hagwood (Christina), Blake Dyer, and Melissa Smith (Randolph); special granddaughter, Kylie Amato; 9 great-grandchildren. Step-children, Candi Barr, Daphne Barr, Stacy Barr, and Brandon Barr (Jill); 7 step-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; sister, Doris McRae; brother, Marvin Hagwood; and a host of extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Morris and Roberta Hagwood.

Pallbearers will be Marty Hagwood, Derick Dyer, Daniel Hagwood, Blake Dyer, Aidan Barr, Dakota Barr, and Jeff Swanner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Len McRae, Gerald Robinson, Kenny Weir, and Marcell Goodman.

The Hagwood family will receive guests from 10:00 AM until 11:15AM prior to services at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.

Mississippi Department of Public Safety (CTED) Honor Guard will be present to pay tribute to his dedication and years of service as a law enforcement officer.
