Bennie Jeanne Hartzog Harris Services for Mrs. Bennie Jeanne Hartzog Harris will be held Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:30 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Mike Russell and Gene Neal officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Harris, 81, of Quitman, died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She touched the lives of many people during her 81 years. Mrs. Harris worked as a public school teacher for 34 years. She also served in many churches in Lauderdale, Kemper and Clarke Counties. One of her favorite areas of service was working with children. She directed or taught vacation Bible School for 52 consecutive years. Even though she was officially retired, she never retired from the Lord's service as a prayer warrior for her family and countless others. She also led women's Bible Studies in her home, and started a prayer group at Aldersgate Retirement Community that continues today. Survivors include her sons, Harold Harris and his wife Kathy; Paul Harris and his wife Melanie; daughter, Virginia (Cissi) Majure and her husband Stan; 9 grandchildren, Eddie Louis and wife Paula; Nicole Garrard and husband Shane, Ashley Harris, Kortney Harris, Nathan and Lauren Majure, Jason Harris and wife Christine, Daniel Harris and Andrew Harris; seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Reverend Harold B. Harris, Jr.; son, Dennis Harris and her parents Howard and Fern Hartzog. Donations may be made to the Honduras Forgotten Children Ministries, through her church, First Baptist Church Quitman, MS. Pallbearers will be Nathan Majure, Jason Harris, Eddie Louis, Daniel Harris, Andrew Harris and Carl Graham.
