Bernice I. Davis

Funeral services for Mr. Bernice I. Davis will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018, at 11:00am at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church, with Dr. John Temple and Dr. James Ruffin officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Davis, age 86, of Meridian, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Davis started his career in 1949 working for Bud’s Men Shop in Meridian. In 1965, Mr. Davis and his close friend, Ronnie Massey founded Davis & Massey Motor Company. Then in 1974, Mr. Davis became sole owner of what is now known as Davis Tractor Company. He was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church since October of 1955. Bernice loved cattle farming and is now chasing cows in Heaven, where he doesn’t have to worry about fences. He was a member of the Lauderdale County Board of Co-op and a member of the board of the Meridian Stockyard.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Gerry Davis; children, Van Davis (Melanie), Greg Davis (Lori), Scott Davis (Tonya), and Donna Blackwell (Jerry); grandchildren, Chris Davis (Jennifer), Charlotte Johnson (Scotty), Sean Patrick McCullouch (Gina), Kellen McCullouch, Bo Davis (Baleigh), Austin Davis, Hannah Davis, Randy Lee Diveley (Deanna), Phylicia Ware (Matt), and Phillip Diveley; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Phil W. Davis (Clarice); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip Wilkerson Davis and Vera Chisolm Davis and his sister, Alice Davis.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters.
