Funeral services for Mrs. Berta Joan Evans will begin at 3:30 Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with the Reverends Donald Gentry, Dr. Ralph Henson and Mrs. Donna Harford officiating. Music for the service will be provided by Rev. Buddy McElroy. Interment will follow at Arkadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Evans, 86, of Bailey passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Mrs. Joan was a pastor’s wife for over 63 years. She retired as a librarian after over 25 years of service from East Mississippi State Hospital and Matty Hersee Hospital. Mrs. Evans has been a member of Arkadelphia Baptist Church since 1972 where she taught Sunday School and was a former youth director; she also served as former youth director at First Baptist Church of Collins and First Baptist Church of Picayune. Mrs. Joan has also been very active in Ebenezer Ministries of Bailey, MS for over 25 years.

Mrs. Joan is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Carless Evans; sisters, Sarah Ollie McDonald and Jeannine Shearin; sister in law, Barbara Conger, of Greely, CO; brother in law, James Evans, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Mrs. Evans is preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Berta Lee White; brother, Gordon White, Jr. as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family suggest in lieu of flowers donations be made to Ebenezer Ministries of Bailey, MS.

Pallbearers will be Dewayne Joyner, Dr. Danny Clifton, Tommy Snell, Dr. Joe Flemming, Dr. Wesley Bennette, Mack Barnes, and Sonny Toms. Honorary pallbearer will be Mrs. Dorothy Bradford.
