Betty Sue Stewart

Funeral services for Betty Stewart will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 11:00a.m. at St. Patrick Church, with Father Matthew Simmons officiating. Graveside will be Monday, June 12, at 2:00p.m. at Crittendon Memorial Park in Marion, AR, with Rev. Msgr. Elvin Sunds officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Stewart, age 73, of Meridian, passed away June 7 at her home.

Betty was originally from Hamilton, AL, where she spent her childhood. She lived in West Memphis, AR, where she worked for twenty years as an Associate Manager at Holiday Inn. Betty was a member of the Arkansas Lioness Club and was on the board of Disability Service for the Blind under Governor Bill Clinton. She was an auxiliary member of KOC and an active member of St. Patrick Church. Betty always lovingly and unselfishly took care of others in need, especially children.

Betty is survived by her husband, Roland M. Stewart; son, Steven R. (Loretta) Reid, daughter, Wanda J. (Mat) Culp; foster son, Joseph Ashton Taylor; stepchildren, Andrew P. (Denise) Stewart, John J. (Joanne) Stewart, Daniel J. (Betty) Stewart, and Kimberly A. (Daniel) Brown; fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny M. (Vivian) Parker, and sisters, Bonnie Cayson Jones and Linda (Jim) Triplett, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, John and Vurdie Lee Parker; siblings, Sue Hamilton and Leland Tracy Parker.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Patrick Catholic School – 2700 Davis St. Meridian, MS 39301.

Pallbearers will be members of Knights of Columbus Council 802.
