Bettye graduated from Meridian High School, as well as Meridian Junior College, and attended Millsaps College. Next to loving, adoring and giving words of advice to her grandchildren, her love was genealogy, her computer, and co-managing the family tree farm. All of her grandchildren have been blessed to truly have known her and will be comforted by the "Grannie stories" that will be repeated for years to come at all Compton gatherings.
In recognition of her love for genealogy, and to assist future researchers of family lineage, the complete names of her survivors are included: her four sons and daughters-in-laws, William Bond Compton, Jr. (Ellen Cowan), Robert Hays Compton (Lynne Lewis), David Miller Compton (Debra Davis), and John Gibson Compton (Ann Apperson).
