Funeral services for Mr. Billy Joe "BJ" Carlisle will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Feirtag officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive guests from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Billy Joe "BJ" Carlisle, 65, a beloved husband, father, PopPop, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, laughter, hard work, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

BJ was blessed to spend 42 beautiful years married to his loving wife, who stood faithfully by his side through all of life's joys, challenges, and seasons. Together, they built a beautiful life and a family filled with love. He was a devoted father to Christopher and Shelby, and there was nothing he loved more than his family. BJ loved deeply and loved wholeheartedly. He had a way of making everyone around him laugh, and his sense of humor could brighten even the hardest days. His laughter, his stories, and the joy he brought into every room will be some of the things his family misses most. But perhaps one of his most treasured roles was being PopPop. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart, and the love, laughter, and memories they shared with him will be treasured forever. He adored his grandchildren, and they will always carry with them the love of their PopPop and the special place he held in their lives.

BJ dedicated 38 years of his life to AAA Cooper, where his commitment, dependability, and strong work ethic were a reflection of the man he was. His years of hard work were a source of great pride, and the friendships he made along the way became an important part of his life. A man of deep faith, BJ was a cherished member of NorthPark Church, where he found fellowship, encouragement, and a church family he loved dearly. More than anything, BJ will be remembered for the way he loved. He loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his family, his friends, and his Lord with his whole heart. He was the kind of man who could make you laugh when you needed it most and make you feel loved simply by being near him. His absence leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, but the love he gave and the memories he created will remain forever.

BJ is survived by his wife Terrie Shelby Carlisle. Son, Christopher Carlisle (Jordan); Daughter, Shelby Crouch (Thomas); grandchildren, Colt Crouch, Remi Jo Carlisle, Kipp Crouch, Hattie Belle Carlisle, and Brooks Crouch; mother, Earnestine Roberts; brother, Larry Carlisle (Tammy); sister, Jennifer Shirley; Father-in-law, Jerry Shelby; Brother-in-law, Mike Shelby (Sheri); and host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and Cousins.

BJ is proceeded in death by his father, Joseph Carlisle; grandparents, Joseph O and Annie Carlisle and T.C. Glover Sr. and Willie May Stubbs; and his mother-in-law, Rachel Shelby.

Pallbearers will be Todd Mathis, Tony Pompelia, Mike Farmer, Tony Gore, Virigil Cole, Chris Jamieson, Keith Jamieson, and Roger Menard. Honorary pallbearers will be his cycling buddies and his coworkers at AAA Cooper.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Building Fund at Northpark Church at 7770 Highway 39 North, Meridian, MS 39305 and/or to the Anderson Cancer Center Benevolence Fund.
