Billy W. Gressett, Sr. Funeral service for Billy W. Gressett, Sr., will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church in Newton, with Reverend Robert Rowzee officiating. Burial will be at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Gressett, 82, of Newton passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Gressett was a veteran of the United States Navy and he served in the Korean War. He was retired as a propane delivery truck driver and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Gressett was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his daughter, Peggy G. Tisdale, and husband, Mike of Brandon; son, Billy W. Gressett, Jr. and wife, Tena of Chunky; grandchildren, Melissa Lowlavar, and husband, Matt, Hannah Wren and husband, Jordan, Madison Tisdale and Hunter Tisdale; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Emily and Huston Lowlavar; sister, Ruth Walker, Inez Sims, Geneva Dorough, Bonnie Simmons and Betty Crane; brothers, Victor Gressett and Larry Gressett and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jane Gressett; son, Bobby Gressett; parents, Clint and Ludie Gressett and brother, Dennis Gressett. The family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to Gideons International. Pallbearers will be Paul Walker, Jeff Walker, Wiley Walker, Troy Simmons, Jamie Gressett, Joey Gressett and Justin Gressett. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at robertbarhamffh.com.
