Mr. Zuchowski, 62, died Monday, September 14, 2026, at his home unexpectedly.
Derek was born and reared in Paary, Poland to Jan and Aniela Zuchowski. He immigrated to the United States in 1987 in New York City. While visiting he met his future bride at church. Barbara was visiting the US for a baptism for her god child. After hitting it off and dating the rest is history. Derek and Barbara were married June 12, 1993. They have recently celebrated 33 years of marriage. After moving to New Jersey he was working in Audio Engineering for Crest which was eventually purchased by Peavey Electronics. Derek moved his family to Mississippi in the late 1990s where he remained until the time of his death. Derek worked as a Design Engineer working with Peavey’s for over 30 years. Derek loved his job and would help friends and family with electronic issues any chance he could. Derek was a devout Catholic and faithful parishioner to St. Patrick Catholic Church rarely missing Mass. He was a soccer enthusiast and enjoyed watching soccer leagues and coaching local youth leagues in the past.
Derek is survived by his wife, Barbara Zuchowski; children, Yvonne Mitts (Walton) and Adam Zuchowski; sisters, Irena Zuchowski and Maria Karpinska; his nieces, Magdalena Karpinska and Malgorzata Pietruszkiewicz (Grzegorz); his nephews, Tomasz Karpinski and Grzegorz Sluzewski (Kamila); as well as a host of extended family members and countless friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jan and Aniela Zuchowski.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made as donations to the Catholic Communities of Meridian, MS.
