Memorial services for Brenda Booth Brown will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge near Starkville, Mississippi. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Brenda Booth Brown (January 15, 1960 – February 9, 2016), age 56, of Meridian, Mississippi, lived her life with a spiritual connection to all living things. Her love of nature was surpassed only by her love for her sons, Daniel, Robert, and Sam. As a student at Mississippi State University, she received a B.S. degree in Entomology and pursued a graduate degree in insect toxicology. Brenda explored tropical jungles in Venezuela in 1984 and Fiji Islands in 1986, and she was an active collector of insects on many trips in the U.S. Brenda was known to have extraordinary talents with the expression of her intellect in words, and was a published author of thought- provoking poems and narratives. She was a voracious reader, avid camper and hiker, gardener, and singer. She was an active advocate for women and children. She worked as an EMT and preschool teacher in Nashville, Tennessee. She was later employed in hospital administration at Anderson’s Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and had a special connection to Earth Religions. Brenda was a unique, artistic person, highly sensitive and highly intuitive.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, James D. Booth, and her brother, James Booth, Jr. (Pep).
Brenda is survived by her loving sons, Daniel Brown, of Boston, MA, Robert Brown, of Starkville, MS, and Sam Kellum, of Mathiston, MS; her mother, Norma Booth, brother Allen Booth, sister, Beverly Lowdermilk of Fayetteville, TN, and sister Angie Huffman, of Sewanee, TN; nephew Zachary Huffman of Salzberg, Austria, and niece Noelle Anderson of Merced, CA, along with many beloved cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
