Bryant Ray Jenkins, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Bryant Ray Jenkins, Jr. will begin at 12 noon Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with the Reverends Dr. Corey Fontan and David Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Jenkins, 88, of Meridian, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Anderson Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Ray was a Veteran of the US Army and served in Korea. He married the love of his life, Genola Jenkins, in 1957 at Carmel Baptist Church and he then took her on their honeymoon to Chattanooga, TN, in his 1956 Chevy Bel- Air. He began in sales with Lackey’s Appliance and retired from Johnson Mobile Homes.  In his retirement, he enjoyed bush-hogging with his lawnmower and tending to his yard and property. He enjoyed auto racing and baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs. He had a passion for Southern Gospel Music, with some of his favorites being Gold City, The Cathedrals, and The Liberty Quartet. He and Genola were faithful members of Highland Baptist Church until their health declined. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ray is survived by his children, Reba Lee (Chris) and Phil Jenkins (Lisa); grandchildren Lauren Stewart (Adam), Andrew Lee (Casadi), and Jake Lee (Ashlynn). Great-grandchildren, Lydia and Sadie Stewart; Brailynn, Dylan, Easton, and Carsyn Lee; and Jacie Lee. Siblings Norma Bean (Fred), Edwina Wilkinson, Ted Jenkins (Sue), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mr. Jenkins is preceded in death by his wife, Genola Jenkins; grandson Clark Jenkins; and his parents Ray Jenkins, Sr. and Eddie Jenkins.
