Byron Moffett

Funeral services for Mr. Byron Moffett will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with the Reverends Nelson Moffett and Dr. Raymon Leake officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites at Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in the Causeyville Community. The Moffett Family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, July 10, 2026, at the funeral home. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Moffett, 57, of Meridian, died Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the University of Alabama Birmingham Medical Center following a brief illness.

Byron was an avid outdoorsman. He had a deep passion for fishing and turkey hunting. Byron served his fellow man as a dispatcher with the MS Highway Patrol and prior to that, worked as a security officer, at Rush Foundation Hospital for over 10 years.

Byron is survived by his son, Christopher Moffett (Lana); one granddaughter; his brother, Gavin Moffett; his girlfriend, Melissa Shackelford; as well as his cousins, Glenn Moffett (Becky); and a host of extended family members and friends.

Byron is preceded in death by his parents, A.D. and Pat Moffett.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Moffett, David Moffett, Jamie Stovall, Stephen Jackson, Chad Allen, Thomas Williams, and Darron Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Stevie Smith and Percy Chatham.

The Moffett Family suggests memorials be made as donations to The Gideons International or to the Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in lieu of flowers.
