Carl "Slay" Slaton Boswell passed away peacefully on January 26, 2023 in Jackson, MS at the age of 69. Despite his long and courageous battle with his health issues over the years, Slay was always the first to put a smile on everyone's face, even in the end. His family will always remember him as loving, kind, and extremely goofy.
Slay was born on June 23, 1954 in Meridian, MS to Carl "Stan" Slaton Boswell Sr. and Bobbye Townsend James. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1972 and continued to Meridian Community College to obtain an Associate's of Marketing.
For most of his career, Slay poured his heart and soul into his role as a dedicated purchaser at Peavey Electronics, a job that brought him not only tremendous joy but also lifelong friendships. There, he also met the love of his life, Amy McAlpin Boswell, and they married in 1997. Over the next five years, the couple welcomed their three children into their life.
Slay was a lover of music, a passion he passed on to his kids, and often indulged in playing golf. He loved the weekends he spent at the golf course, namely Briarwood Country Club, and the game later became a strong bond for him and his son. An avid Mississippi State University fan, he could be found every Saturday cheering on the bulldogs with his family. Above all else, Slay was known for his infectious laughter and playful sense of humor that could liven up any room he entered. He could make a friend with anyone and was always a person that could be depended on. Many of his friends and family will fondly recall his classic jokes and antics over the years that brought such warmth and silliness wherever he went.
Slay was preceded in death by his father, Carl Boswell Sr., his mother, Bobbye James, his stepmother, Rosella Boswell, his uncle, Ira Boswell, his aunt, Alva Mae "Jinx" Boswell, and his cousin, Vikki Gunter.
Slay is survived by his wife, Amy Boswell, his son, Blake Slayton Boswell, his daughter-in-law, Kaylee Brooke Boswell, his daughter, Emilee Claire Boswell, his daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Boswell, his sister, Tanya Deaton, his sister, Suzanne Coulson, his cousin, Lynda Sholar, his cousin Valarie Hampton, his cousin, Vanessa Abler, and his honorary daughter, Reagan Mathis.
