Mr. Carver, 92, of Meridian passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Carl was born on September 15, 1933 in Cleveland, MS. He graduated from Cleveland High School and also graduated from Mississippi State University. He had a profound love for music and enjoyed playing in the band - both in high school and in college. Growing up in the Mississippi Delta, Carl loved the blues and country music, especially George Jones, which was at the top of his list. Wherever he was, his music was always playing loudly with plenty of bass.

In 1958, he married the love of his life, Margaret Lackey, and from their union, five children were born. He worked for many years as an Insurance Executive, and one of his proudest accomplishments was founding Great River Insurance in 1993, providing employment for hundreds and also providing new opportunities for agents and consumers across the states of Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.

He was an avid supporter of his beloved Mississippi State Bulldogs. He enjoyed years of golf at Northwood Country Club and even had nine hole-in-ones. He and Margaret enjoyed travelling to various couples' golf tournaments in their RV. Carl's greatest love was spending time with his family and his many dear friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Lackey Carver; children, Dena Lagendijk (Arjen), Amy Carver Higley (Dave), Jeffrey Carver (Andrea), and Beth Calderon; grandchildren, Jennifer Lagendijk Carney (Chip), Jamie Lagendijk, Mackenzie Carver, Bradley Carl Carver, Emilia Calderon (Ivan), Alena Calderon, and Sophia Calderon; great-grandchildren, Mateo Ramirez, Brick Carney, and Hattie Carney; and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Deborah Carver; his parents, Carl and Jewel Carver; and two sisters, Mary Frances Carver and Sarah Carver Aycock.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Carver be sent to your favorite charity.

Pallbearers will be Arjen Lagendijk, Dave Higley, Chip Carney, Carlos Calderon, Jamie Lagendijk, Brad Carver, Ivan Ramirez, and John Davis Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Marty Davidson, Bill Aycock, and Greg Heblon.
