Services for Carl E. Fitzgerald will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverends Danny Lanier, Malcolm Lewis, and Jack Bonner officiating. Burial will be in Blue Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Fitzgerald, 81, of Meridian, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at R.P. White Nursing Center. He was a long time Radio Broadcaster, and 26 year Producer and Anchor for "Remember When". Mr. Fitzgerald worked at several local radio stations, as well as the Meridian Star. He was very active in the Jimmie Rodgers Association, the TISBA Organization, as well as a member of Hamasa Shrine. Mr. Fitzgerald also taught guitar for over fifty years, was a song writer, and a member of several local bands. He was an active member of Northcrest Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Thelma McDonald Fitzgerald, of Meridian, son, Frankie Fitzgerald, and his wife, Laura, of Collinsville, daughter, Brenda Fitzgerald, of Meridian, step-sons, Ricky McDonald, of Meridian, Mike McDonald, and his wife, Meredith, of Jacksonville, FL, David McDonald, and his wife, Gwen, of Collinsville, step-daughter, Lanette McDonald Ezell, of Collinsville, grandchildren, Courtney Fitzgerald Pogue, and her husband, Aaron, and Sara Fitzgerald, step-grandchildren, Stacie McDonald, Miranda Allen, Bradley Ezell, Zachary Ezell, Teresa McDonald, Zachary McDonald, Anastasia McDonald, Ashleigh McDonald, Jessi Dowdy, Jodi Dowdy, and eight great grandchildren, sister, Cleo Snowden, of Meridian, sister-in-law, Eunice Fitzgerald, of Meridian, best friend, Brother Jack Bonner, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Annie Fitzgerald, brothers and sisters, first wife, and mother of his children, Jo Ruth Fitzgerald. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
