James Carlos Gordon Celebration services for James Carlos Gordon will be held Tuesday, March 03, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Bay Springs Baptist Church in DeKalb, MS, with Rev. Mike Rasberry and Rev. Jessie Knapp officiating. Burial will be at Bay Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Gordon, age 75, of Meridian, MS passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Jeff Anderson Hospital. Carlos graduated from Suqualena High School in 1958, where he played basketball. Carlos and Wanda were married in 1961 and made their residence in Meridian, MS. He worked with Owen Brothers, Kroger (in Memphis), served in the Mississippi Army National Guard, and retired from the Meridian Police Department. Carlos continued to serve his community and military with employment at Lockheed Martin, retiring in 2001. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend. He faced his long hard battle with cancer with dignity, courage, and great confidence in his many wonderful care providers. His faith never wavered in the path God prepared for him. He was a bright light in a dark valley. We're grateful for our family and many dear friends who have supported us during this difficult time. Thank you for celebrating his lifehe never met a stranger, loved his city, and always had a story to tell. A story that's now sounding in glory! Over the years, Carlos was a member of Greenland Baptist, Westwood Baptist, and Bay Springs Baptist Churches. A very special thank you to Dr. Matthew Cassell, and the compassionate nurses and support staff of the Meridian Oncology Associates and the 4-East Oncology floor at Jeff Anderson Hospital. You were our angels on earth. Survivors include: Wife, Wanda Boren Gordon; son, Glenn Gordon (Michelle) of Warner Robins, GA; son, Steve Gordon (Trish) of Mansfield, TX; and daughter, Sandi Gordon Arnold (Ricky) of Petal, MS. Grandchildren: Shanna Gordon Wall (Aaron) of Fort Worth, TX, Tamara Gordon Hill (Luke) of Mansfield, TX, Daniel and Branden Gordon of Mansfield, TX, Tanner Gordon of Warner Robins, GA, and Samantha Arnold Luckel (Gilbert) of Petal, MS. Great grandchildren: Mason Hill (9), Loxlea Luckel (2), and Ayden Wall (2). Brothers: Bill Gordon of Meridian, MS, and Larry Gordon of Collinsville, MS, and special friend and neighbor, Alvis Partridge, also of Meridian. Our love to his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: Infant son, Ronald Keith Gordon; parents, Ervin and Vela Gordon; sister, Carnell Blass Bender; and brother, Ray Gordon. The family request memorials be made to: Benevolent Cancer Fund at the Meridian Oncology Associates. Pallbearers will be: Randy Blass, Brian Gordon, Scott Gordon, Casey Clifton, Marvin Wiggins, and Scott Wiggins.
