Carol Reeves Gilliland Graveside services for Carol Gilliland will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 2:30 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Reverend Nolan Butler officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Gilliland, 67, of Meridian, died Monday, April 5, 2010 at her residence, following a long battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed. Carol received Christ as her savior as a teenager. One of her favorite verses from the King James Bible was II Timothy 2:15, Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. "How Great thou Art" will be sung at her graveside. Carol enjoyed working with the Junior Miss Program. She volunteered as a judge and over the years coached many participants as they prepared for their competition. Survivors include her husband, Daniel E. Gilliland; daughter, Camille Gilliland Moss and her husband, Mike of Denver, CO; sister, Janis Sayers and her husband, Joe of Lauderdale; a special niece, Christa Sayers Stewart and her husband Zadok of Lauderdale and their children, Chelsea, Ariel and D.J.; Todd Sayers and his wife Gina of Lauderdale and their children, Logan, Lanie and MaryLyn; Josh Sayers of Pensacola FL and his son Joseph Alan of Quitman; several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ford C. and Fay R. Reeves. A special thanks to Hospice Compassus for their tender loving care, especially, Tim and Louise, and other caregivers.
