Carolyn “Sue” Hemmingway was born on June 9, 1944 in Tylertown, MS to Reverend Earl Ainsworth and Claudine Boone Ainsworth. Since her father was a Methodist preacher, she moved around many times and attended several schools. In June before her junior year, she moved to Stonewall, MS. She attended high school there and was part of the last graduating class of Stonewall High School. After marriage, she moved to Marion, MS and held several different jobs. After having two girls, being a homemaker was her greatest accomplishment. Although, playing the piano at church for many years was her passion.

Sue is survived by her two daughters, Sandy Clark and Shannon Sheppard (Johnny Sheppard); her four grandchildren, Luke Clark, Olivia Clark, Riley Kate Sheppard, and Dru Madison Sheppard; father of her children, Wayne Hemmingway (Marie); and her much older brother, Wayne Ainsworth (Judy), and Ray and Cheryl Gibson; her niece, Tammy Young (Anthony), nephews, Tommy Ainsworth (Jamie), John David Ainsworth (Jamie), Chip Gibson and Kenneth Gibson (Jessica). She is also survived by her special Christian sisters, Carolyn Clark, Judy Ainsworth, Cheryl Gibson, and her best friend and cousin, Jan Morrison.

She was preceded in death by Reverend Earl Ainsworth and Claudine Boone Ainsworth, Rudolph Hemmingway, and Annie Wilkins Hemmingway. Also, a son in-law, Chris Clark.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Benevolence Fund at the Meridian Cancer Center or in the endowment scholarship fund at East Central Community College in memory of her son in-law, Chris Clark.

Pallbearers include her nephews Tommy Ainsworth, John David Ainsworth, and Kenneth Gibson; great nephews Wyatt Ainsworth, Travis Ainsworth, Eli Garvin, and Charlie Gibson.

Special thank you to Dr. Gary Gibson, Dr. Cassell, Baptist Anderson Outpatient Infusion Clinic, Amedisys Home Health, and Harpers Hospice.
