Funeral services for Mrs. Caryol Ann Faucette Griffin will be held Friday, May 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Dr. John Temple and Rev. Aubrey Martin officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Mrs. Caryol Ann Faucette Griffin, 79, of Meridian, MS passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024.
She was born July 27, 1944. Caryol was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church since 2014. Previously a member of First Baptist Church of Laurel from 1974 to 2013, serving as a WMU Officer, G A's teacher and other involvement with the church. She graduated from Clarkdale High School, East Mississippi Junior College, and later attended Jones Junior College and Meridian Junior College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Louis Griffin, Jr.; older brother, Robert Lee Faucette, Jr.; parents, Robert Lee Faucette, Sr. and Ollie Jeanette (Teddy) Faucette; her grandparents, Sallie Steele Martin and John William Martin, Annie Edna Faucette and David Jones Faucette.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by her three children: Greg S. Griffin (Brenda), Paige G. Parker (Will) and Michael L. Griffin (Jaime); her six grandchildren, Leighton Griffin, Caroline Parker, William "Pal" Parker, Taylor Griffin, Harper Griffin, and Mason Nettles; and two brothers, John Edwin Faucette (Wanda) and William David Faucette (Joyce).
Caryol enjoyed participating in numerous community organizations such as The Laurel Junior Auxiliary (Lifetime Member), The Lauren Rogers Museum, The Laurel Ballet Guild, The Argus Literary Club, The Red Cross, Bay Flower Garden Club, The Cancer Support Groups of Laurel, and Meridian. She was a member of the Queen City Duplicate Bridge Club and the Hattiesburg Duplicate Bridge Club, achieving bronze life master. She achieved competition in the national level in Chicago on a team game and also Reno, Nevada in a pairs game.
Caryol had a passion for helping others. She enjoyed teaching bridge, painting art, making stained glass pieces, and playing duplicate bridge. She was self-employed: "The Write Place," script addressing wedding invitations, parties, and other special occasions.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Phillips, William Whitman, Rory Brantley, Cecil McCarty, Jason Hunt, William Faucette, Marlin Lacaze, Robert "Scotty" Faucette, Mike Giles, Mark Covington, and Jimmy Covington.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Cancer Patient Fund at the Anderson Regional Cancer Center, 1704 23rd Avenue, Meridian, MS 39301, or Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Youth Ministries, 4032 Poplar Springs Drive, Meridian, MS 39301.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 prior to the funeral service.
