Charles S. "Bubber" Bidgood, Jr. Graveside service for Charles S. "Bubber" Bidgood, Jr. will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery, with Dr. Tom Sikes officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Bidgood, 86, of Meridian died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Bidgood graduated Meridian High School in 1944 and graduated from Ole Miss in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He played football for Meridian High School from 1941 through 1943, the University of South Carolina in 1945 and the University of Mississippi from 1946 through 1948. He was the center for Charlie Connerly. While at the University of Mississippi, he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity, ODK National Honorary Scholastic Fraternity, Chi Epsilon National Honorary Engineering Fraternity and the M-Club. Mr. Bidgood served in the United States Navy from July 1944 until June 1946. Mr. Bidgood was President of the Greater Meridian Chamber of Commerce in 1974, Chairman of the Meridian Industrial Foundation in 1980, President of Mississippi Concrete Industries in 1979, President of the University of Mississippi M-Club Alumni in 1974 and the University of Mississippi Alumnae Association in 1980. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of Merchants and Farmers Bank, owner of Meridian Ready Mix Concrete Company and was Vice President of Taylor Rental Center of Meridian. He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Claire Harrington Bidgood, son, Charles S. Bidgood, III and wife Kathy, son, David Bidgood and daughter, Sally Archer and husband BB; grandchildren, Hallie Archer, Anne Archer, Kate Archer, Bo Bidgood and Brooke Bidgood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles S. Bidgood, Sr. and Mildred Wright Davis and sister, Mimi Bidgood Hanley. The family requests memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
