Services for Charles Henry Caperton will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018, at 2:00 pm at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Reverend Tom Sikes and Reverend Billy Goodwin will be officiating. Visitation will take place from 1:00 pm till 2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Caperton, 74, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He graduated from Dekalb High School, the University of Mississippi, and received a Master’s degree in counseling from Mississippi College. He Further pursued graduate studies at Mississippi State University and the University of Georgia.
His first job after college was serving as a psychological evaluator at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He then was employed by Weems and East Mississippi State Hospital in Meridian in the mental health area. After moving to Texas, he retired from Premier Care.
Charles was a member of the Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Meridian. He held various professional memberships in the field of mental health through the years. He loved music and shared his talent in singing and directing, mostly in church choirs. He was an enthusiastic Ole Miss fan. He will be remembered by his corny jokes, unusual laugh, “green thumb”, gourmet cooking, and love of animals, especially dogs.
He is survived by two daughters, Elisa Baty (Shane) of DeKalb, and Amanda Cassell (Matt) of Marion. His grandchildren are Brittany, Carrie Grace, and Ann-Elise Baty; Hayden Grace, Luke, and Lilla Cassell. Step sons are Dave Owen of Meridian and Les Owen of Houston, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his mother, Edith Weaver Davis; his father, Henry Bluitt Caperton; stepfather, Henry Bragg Davis, and sister, Barbara Sanders.
Pallbearers will be Shane Baty, Dr. Matt Cassell, John Harwell, Emery Edwards, Irby Lang, and Roscoe Douglas. Honorary pallbearers are Wade Crews and Mickey Sanders.
