Graveside services for Mr. Charles Lamar Capps will begin at 1:30pm Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Old Mars Hill Cemetery in Winston County with the Reverend Rodney Baker officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Capps, 73, of Collinsville, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Charlie was born in Pascagoula, MS July 2, 1947. In his youth he was a military “brat”, traveling and living all over the United States, and abroad in Japan and Germany. He started his career by serving in the U.S. Air Force, once he finished his duties with the Air Force, he continued his education at the University of Mississippi, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts. Charlie continued his education and obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching from Mississippi State University. Charles went on to teach in the public and private school sectors in both Mississippi and Alabama. He was a very well-read, intellectual man, who spoke five different languages, holding honors with Delta Phi Alpha and Pi Delta Phi.

Charles had a love for photography and traveling, visiting all US states and many locations in Canada. He was an active member of Abundant Life Tabernacle and also served with the Gideon’s for many years. He was a committed Christian serving Christ our Lord and Savior.

Mr. Capps is survived by his wife of 41 years, Illine Giles Capps. He is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Connard and Amy Capps, and one brother, Dave Capps.

Pallbearers will be Barry Giles, Steven Giles, Chase Rogers, Chanz Rogers, Jeremy Giles, and Harrell Giles. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Giles and Mike Giles.
