Charles Vernon Chester

Charles Vernon Chester will be buried on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton Mississippi.  A memorial service will be scheduled once the Coronavirus outbreak settles. Robert Barham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Chester, age 89, of Ridgeland, passed away Sunday March 22, 2020 peacefully at Bedford’s Alzheimer’s Facility in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  He was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on March 19, 1931.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years Betty Jo, Daughters Kathy Luke (Bob) of Meridian, Lori Golden (Kendall) of Ridgeland, Sons Greg (Carri)of Clinton and Alan (Paula) of Gulf Breeze, Florida and grandchildren Joshua, Caleb (Betsy) and Elizabeth Luke, Gabriel (Leigh)and Samuel Golden, Coty Douglas (Justin) and Lake Jones, Tara and Chelsea Wiles and great grandchildren Cooper, William, Maria, George and Wade Luke, Phoenix Golden, Avery and Cohen Douglas, and Samantha and Zoey Manning as well as his brother James(Jim) (Julie) of Memphis TN, 4 sisters, Ruth Balcom, Joann Malone (George) Olive Branch, MS, Kathleen Spencer, Bay AAR, Mary Parkinson (Weldon) Woodbury, TN as well as a host of nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents Florence and Ray Chester, Brother Johnny, and Brothers-in-law Charles Balcom and Roosevelt Spencer
