Charles Lynwood Clayton

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Lynwood Clayton will begin at 11:00 AM Monday, July 27, 2026, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with the Reverends James Ruffin and Chris Lee officiating. Service music will be provided by Reverend Caleb Wright. Interment will follow graveside rites at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM prior to funeral rites in the chapel. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Lynwood went to his Heavenly home surrounded by his family and friends. He enjoyed many things in his almost 91 years. He loved God and was a faithful member of Oak Hill Baptist Church for 69 years with the exception of nine years at First Baptist Church in Laurel. He loved his home church, Oak Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Trustee. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 36 years and retired as Postmaster for Laurel, MS. He loved life, traveling with friends, fishing, jogging, and playing golf.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ramona Smith Clayton; three children, Terry Gibson (Charlie), Dawn Eubanks (Mike), and Wade Clayton (Wendy). PaPaw to seven grandchildren: Sid Gibson (Alexia), Cameron Gibson (Brooke), Samuel Gibson, Marla Eubanks Seale, Kayla Eubanks Williams (Willie), Alex Clayton, and Emma Clayton. Nine, soon to be ten precious great-grandchildren; one brother, Billy Clayton, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Aleene Clayton; one sister, Betty Yarbrough; and one sister-in-law, Mary Clayton.

He will be greatly missed, but we rejoice he is healed and with his loving Lord and Savior. Special thanks to his wonderful caregivers, Jennifer, Samone, Niki, Trish and Kimberly, all with Home Instead. We are so thankful for Gentiva Hospice and the comfort they provided.
