Born on February 21, 1938, in Clarke County, Mississippi, to Curtis and Daisy Fisher, Charlie was a proud graduate of Clarkdale High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. During his military service, Charlie began as an airframe welder and received specialized training in heliarc welding. His expertise led him to work in demanding conditions, often salvaging downed aircraft in combat zones. At one point, he was injured by enemy gunfire but declined recognition, including a Purple Heart, to protect his mother from worry. Known for his skilled marksmanship, he was later tasked with teaching the Vietnamese to become sharpshooters using the M1 rifle. Charlie was also honored to be nominated by the USAF to assist NASA as a welder on a special rocket project in Texas. After his Air Force service, Charlie continued his career as a welder, contributing to significant projects, including building X-ray machines for hospitals. A generous man, he often used his mechanical skills to help stranded motorists and was a steadfast defender and advocate for children, the elderly, and animals. He briefly served as a process server with the Pueblo Police Department. Charlie enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, hiking, camping, target shooting, and fishing, though he later abstained from hunting and fishing out of a deep love for wildlife and conservation. He will be remembered for his skill, kindness, and adventurous spirit. Mr. Fisher is survived by his children, Kathy Pullis, Keith Fisher, and Troy Fisher (Shoane); his grandchildren, Chaz Pullis, Jessica Polite, Kenneth Beach (Natalie); his great-granddaughter, Kenzie Polite; his siblings, Billy Fisher and Loretta Brown; and his nieces and nephews, Tammy Gilbert, Donald Fisher, Ronald Fisher, Alan Brown, Paul Brown, and Angela Waltman. Mr. Fisher was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Daisy Fisher; his brother-in-law, David Brown; his sister-in-law, Deloris Jean Fisher; his nephew, Arthur Fisher; the mother of his children, Patsy Bruton; and his long-time companion, Ingeborg Grueschow.
