Charles W. Harper,Sr. Services for Charles W. Harper, Sr. will be held Thursday, June 9, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Jack Giles and Reverend Richard Coats officiating. Burial will be in Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Harper, 90, of Meridian went to be with the Lord after a long term illness on Monday, June 6, 2011, surrounded by a loving family at his home. He was a member of Church of The Way and was a World War II veteran and served in the China, Burma, India Campaign. Mr. Harper worked as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement with private contractors as well as Lauderdale County where he served as a road foreman. He was a wonderful husband, devoted father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Harper; his daughter Linda Thornton and her husband Doyle; his sons Victor C. Harper, Rickey W. Harper and his wife Juanita, Roger D. Harper, Mark A. Harper and his wife Gayle, and Jeffery K. Harper and his wife Edie; daughter-in-law Pam Harper; eighteen grandchildren, twenty six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Charles W. Harper, Jr.; a granddaughter Amanda Harper Cermak; and a great grandson Joshua Yeager. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Charles W. Harper, III, Sean Harper, Brian Harper, Daniel Harper, Clay Harper, Tyler Harper, Adam Harper and Brooks Conner.
