Charles A. Norman, Sr. Services for Charles A. Norman, Sr. will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Raymon Leake officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Norman, 77, of Collinsville passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Rush Foundation Hospital. Mr. Norman graduated from Meridian High School in 1955 and he was a member of the All Big 8 All Star Football Team. In December 1955, he married Patricia Ann Hatch. Mr. Norman served in the United States Army and he was the founder and owner of Norman Roofing where he worked for over thirty-five years. He was a longtime member of State Blvd. Baptist Church where he was a deacon and served as chairman of the deacons. He was also a Sunday school teacher, drove the church bus, served as the chairman of the building committee and took numerous missionary trips to Mexico and Alaska. He was an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Meridian. He was also a member of the Glenn Deweese Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Hatch Norman; sons, Charles A. Norman, Jr. (Amy), and Richard T. Norman; grandchildren, Charles Tyler Norman and Ashley Elizabeth Huffmaster; brother, Gilmer S. Norman, Jr.; sister, Mellie Norman Neal and aunt, Helen Ranager. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilmer S. Norman, II and Bernice Ranager Norman; sons, Gregory Preston Norman and Jeffrie Scott Norman and brother, James Ranager Norman. The family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 1509, Meridian, Mississippi 39302. Pallbearers will be Joel Neal, Dave Neal, Glenn Herrington, George Ranager, Gil Norman, III and Rob Mears. Honorary pallbearers will be the Glenn Deweese Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.
