Funeral services for Mr. Charles C. Nowell will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Salem Baptist Church in Kewanee with Rev. Bob Followell officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Mr. Charles C. Nowell, 80, of Lauderdale passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 21.
Charles was born July 10, 1945 in Meridian and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served as a medic during the Vietnam War. A man of many talents, Mr. Nowell worked most of his life as a truck driver. He and his wife worked for many years remodeling houses. Charles enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing, and especially loved spending time with his family. He had a knack for fixing things, tinkering with projects, and riding motorcycles. At the age of 75, he received his pilot's license and enjoyed flying with his friends to fly-ins throughout the area.
Mr. Nowell was a member of Salem Baptist Church for over 40 years. He and Mrs. Nowell oversaw the maintenance and administration of the church cemetery.
Mr. Nowell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly Nowell; his daughter, Regina Lynn Haralson (Christopher); his grandchildren, Katie Westerfield (Chandler), Tyler Nowell (Jennifer), Matthew Miller, Miles Miller (Chloe), and Hannah Nowell; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Kinsley, Easton Ray, Colton, Miles, and Ryleigh Cate; and his siblings, Billy Joe Nowell and Mary McGehee; as well as other beloved extended family members.
Mr. Nowell was preceded in death by his parents, Coyt and Lorine Nowell; his son, Charles "Ricky" Nowell; and his brothers, Sam Nowell and Willie Nowell.
Pall bearers will be Christopher Haralson, Matthew Miller, Miles Miller, Tyler Nowell, Charles Black, and Andrew Black.
