Charles F. Overby, Sr Services for Charles F. Overby, Sr. will be held Friday, October 8, 2010 at 1:00 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Charles F. (Chuck) Overby, Jr. and Dr. Jerry Lee Carlisle officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Mr. Overby, 76, of Meridian, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Overby was retired after 29 years with the Meridian Police Department. He also worked with the Lauderdale County Juvenile Center for 14 years. Mr. Overby coached Jaycee football for 20 years where he had the most wins of any Jaycee coach. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Wyvette Overby of Meridian; sons, Charles F. (Chuck) Overby, Jr. and his wife Tammy Lynn of Meridian, John C. Overby and his wife Janis of Collinsville; daughter, Kimberly Dawn Overby of Meridian; grandchildren, Summer Overby of Meridian, Jacob Charles and Jared Overby of Collinville; sisters, Eloise Carlisle and her husband Jerry of Granbury, TX, Helen Askew of Pachuta, MS; brother William Roland Overby of Pachuta, MS; and several nieces and nephews. Extended family members Mary and Christopher Lyons and their children Christopher Lyons, Jr. and John Franklin Lyons of Meridian. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Marvella Overby; five brothers and one sister, nieces and nephews. The family request memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.
