Services for Charles Keffier Poore, Jr. will be held Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Jeff Hancock and Brother James Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Poore, age 80, of Meridian, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013, at Poplar Springs Nursing Center. He was a member of Collinsville First Church of God. Mr. Poore retired from the United States Air Force after 28 years of service as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1980. He served duty in Japan, Vietnam, Athens Greece, and many bases in the States. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Clarice Poore; daughter, Barbara Smith of Vacaville, CA; son, Carl S. Poore (Christina) of Meridian; daughter, Patricia Gordon (Steve) of Mansfield, TX; son, Michael Poore (Becky) of Meridian; grandchildren, Jessie Allen (Chris) of Sacramento, CA, Josh Smith (Sylvia) of Seattle, WA, Christopher Poore (Lauri) of Meridian, Ashley Hudler(Heath) of Whynot, Shanna Wall (Aaron) of Fort Worth, TX, Tamara Hill (Luke) of Mansfield, TX, Daniel Gordon (Nicole) of Mansfield, TX, Branden Gordon of Mansfield, TX, Heather McKinny (Brian) of McCalla, AL; 5 great grandchildren; and brother, Leverette Poore (Carolyn) of Miramar Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles K. Poore Sr. and Callie D. Blankenship; and brothers Jack Poore and Bob Poore. Mr. Poore was a member of Meridian East Gideon Camp and for years was in charge of the Gideon Card Ministry which enabled the Gideons to distribute scriptures all over the world to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a member of American Legion Post 125 and Forty and Eight. Pallbearers will be members of the Meridian East Gideon Camp. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.
