Charles D. "Claw Hammer" Roberts Funeral services for Charles "Claw Hammer" Roberts will be held Friday, March 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dano Rainer officiating. Burial and Masonic Rites will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Roberts, age 65, of Bailey, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Regency Hospital. He started his education at Center Hill School and then finished at West Lauderdale High School. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed judging field trials and raised many award winning fox dogs. Claw Hammer loved being outdoors and his dogs were one of his passions. In the past, he had Blue Ticks and Walker dogs for deer hunting and most recently, Beagles for hunting rabbits. He owned a rabbit pen and was known for helping others train their Beagles. He loved his tractors, since purchasing his first one in 2001. He did small jobs for friends in the community and once owned a small lawn care business. He was multitalented and held various jobs including, a short order cook at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Texas, a roofer for 20 years, a carpenter, a heavy equipment operator, a truck driver, an industrial mechanic, and several others. He was a member of the Longstreet Lodge #268 F&AM Masonic Lodge in Meridian, MS and enjoyed participating in various fund raiser events. He loved traveling with his wife to flea markets, taking trips to the mountains, and going on day trips to the beach. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Cecille M. "Cissy" McDonald Roberts; daughter, Nina Roberts Carman and husband, Larry; son, Charlie Roberts and wife, Stacey; grandchildren, Josh Roberts, Alex Clark, and Hannah Roberts; brother, Chester Roberts and wife, Brenda; sister, Faye Pace and husband, Larry; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Edna Roberts. Pallbearers will be Sam Williams, Wayne Roberts, Danny Luke, Sonny Russell, Joe Roberts, and Til Prater. Honorary pallbearers will be James Thornton, Leroy Rigdon, Jerry Bozeman, Johnny Graham, Walter Lee Caldwell, and Harrell Pace.
