Charles Thurman Vick

Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Vick will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, January 19, 2024, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Dr. David Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at West Kemper Baptist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Charles Thurman Vick, 78, born February 9, 1945, passed peacefully January 15, 2024 at his home.

He was an active member and deacon of Highland Baptist Church where he served many years with the broadcast- streaming ministry. He enjoyed cooking for groups, especially on men's retreats. One of his greatest joys was that of a greeter for his church.

He was an avid beekeeper and would talk to anyone who would listen about bees. He was a former president of the Meridian Beekeepers Association and member of Mississippi Beekeepers Association.

Charles never gave up the quest for learning, whether reading book after book to become a good beekeeper or studying for his HAM radio operator license. His mind was always looking for new interests.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lawanda Hagan Vick; his daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Malcolm Philips; his son and daughter-in-law, Charles Todd and LeAnn Vick; his grandson, Charles Declan Vick; his granddaughter, Layklee Ann Vick; his sisters, Earline Wall, Chyrel Francis, and her husband, Leroy; his brother, Elwood and his wife, Bobbie; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Vick and Barbara Vick; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Therman and Irvine Vick; a sister, Sadie Mitchell; and brothers, Dewitt Vick, and Mose "Bub" Vick.

Pallbearers will be Jim Wall, Bruce Mitchell, Greg Mitchell, Devlyn Vick, Tony Vick and Kenneth Hagan.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Highland Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the funeral home prior to funeral services.
