Clara Mae Singley

November 4, 1938 — August 15, 2023

A celebration of life for Clara Mae Singley, age 84, of Meridian, Mississippi, will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11:30 am at the chapel of Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Davis, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 19 South. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:15 am at the funeral home. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mrs. Clara Singley passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving children & son-in-law into the arms of Jesus & eternal life on Tuesday, August 15 at 4:54 am at Anderson's Hospital ICU unit in Meridian, Mississippi.

She was born on November 4, 1938. Clara at the age of 17, married Robert E. Singley, Sr. She enjoyed learning to cook from her mother-in-law Josephine Singley. Many Sunday afternoons were enjoyed with extended family members sharing delicious meals and funny stories. Often, Clara and Robert grew a large summer vegetable garden and Clara shared her abundant tasty Southern dishes with others. Clara grew big, bright & beautiful flowers every year. Most days she talked and laughed with her dearly loved only surviving sister, Irene Newell.

She is survived by her three adult children: Sherry Jones and Matt of Tyler, TX; Robert (Bobby) Singley, Jr. and Patti of Meridian; Kathy McGraw and Byron of Meridian.

Eight grandchildren: Matthew Singley and Alisha of Meridian, Jason McGraw, and Chasity of Meridian; Josh Jones and Stephanie of Tyler, TX; Caleb Jones and Lacy of Tampa, FL, Emily Singley Davis of Meridian; Seth Jones and Mariah of Tahlequah, OK; Molly Singley Garner and Ian of Knoxville, TN; and Ben McGraw of Meridian. Eight great grandchildren, Weston, Hayes, Lake, Lowry, Mary Lawrence, Claire, Hannah, and Luke.

Clara is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert Singley, Sr; her parents, Luther and Ida Manasco, her siblings, Ernestine Upchurch, Christine Calvert, and James Manasco.

The family would like to offer a special thank you for the love and care that was shown to Mrs. Clara by her precious caregivers: Donna Allison, Betty Walker, Jo Anderson, and Catherine Hall. Also, Clara's home health RN Merrick DuValle, hair stylist, Cindy Littrell, and Bro. Joe Anderson whose visits she always enjoyed and cherished.
