Clara Vernell Robbins Van Doren Graveside services for Clara Vernell Robbins Van Doren will be held Saturday, December 11, 2010 at noon at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Reverend Justin Knight officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Van Doren, 81, of Marion died Wednesday, December 8, 2010. She was born in Meridian, Mississippi on December 24, 1928 to Joe Burton Robbins and Emma Townsend Robbins. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Marion. One of her fondest memories was of the gold fish pond next to the Carousel at Highland Park. This is where she met James Charles Van Doren, Sr. They were married for over sixty two years and had three sons. Together they started Van Doren Cabinet Shop more than fifty years ago. Survivors include her sons James Charles Van Doren , Jr. and his wife Linda of Panama City Beach, Florida, Terry L. Van Doren and his wife Retta of Lauderdale, and David Van Doren of Marion; grandchildren Terry L. Van Doren, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Pelham, Alabama, Tim Van Doren and his wife Samantha of Pelham, Alabama, Theresa Van Doren of Meridian, Missy Weaver and her husband Richard of Virginia; great grandchildren Brooke, Eli, Piper and Kailey; sisters Syvilla R. Miller, Jean R. Mason, Jo Ann Rutledge; brother Jeff Robbins and wife Linda; and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James Charles Van Doren, Sr.; parents Mr. and Mrs. Joe Robbins; brother Bill Robbins. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Marion, P.O. Box 607, Marion, Mississippi 39342.Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.
