Clarence R. Butler

The graveside service for Mr. Clarence R. Butler will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Herbert Baptist Church Cemetery, 13361 Hwy 491 S, Union MS, with Rev. Lynn Wedgeworth officiating.  Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Clarence R. Butler, 81, of Meridian passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 6, 2021.

Mr. Butler was born January 9, 1940 to the late Rev. William Everett and Launa Butler.  He was a graduate of House High School.  Mr. Butler served his community for nearly fifty years as a fire fighter.  He was the former Assistant Fire Chief for the Meridian Fire Department, the Director of Lauderdale County Emergency Management, and Lauderdale County Volunteer Fire Coordinator.  Mr. Butler enjoyed farming and raising cattle.  He was known in the community for selling Rawleigh products and he also coached little league baseball for his sons’ teams.

Mr. Butler is survived by his wife, Johnnie Sue Butler; his children, Chuck Butler (Lisa), Dewayne Butler (Sharon), David Butler, Daryl E. Davis (Sally), and Dale M. Davis (Vivianne); grandchildren, Jennifer Toth, Courtney Fioretti (Brian), Brittany Ladd (Karey), Hayes Butler, Blake Butler, Brock Butler, Mitchell Butler, Dustin Davis, Taylor Ann Davis Fears, Hannah Davis, Sarah Davis, and John Morgan Davis; nine great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Billy Butler, Bobby Butler (Frances), and Randy Butler (Darlene).

Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. William Everett Butler and Launa Butler and his brother, James Butler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be shared with Gideon’s International.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 9 from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
