Clarice Pogue Davis

January 27, 1928 — June 11, 2020

Graveside services for Mrs. Clarice Pogue Davis will begin at 10:00 am, Monday June 15,  2020 at Magnolia Cemetery with the Reverends Dr. Carl White and David Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mrs. Davis, 92, of Meridian passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Davis was raised in the Vimville community, graduated from Meridian high school, and worked at Merchants and Farmers Bank. On November 30, 1950 she married Phil W. Davis, Jr. After Mr. Davis returned from military service in Korea, they made their home in Bailey, Mississippi. Mrs. Davis was a member of Highland Baptist Church, where she taught children’s Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was a master cookie baker.

Mrs. Clarice is survived by her loving husband of over 69 years, Phil Davis; children, Peggy Clayton (Tom), Pat Stinson (Howard), Mike Davis (Susan), and Candice Burnette (Jim Weirtheim); grandchildren, Sean Clayton (Erica), Jason Clayton (Danielle), Adam Clayton, Joel Stinson (Sarah), Claire Taylor (Derek), Leslie Davis, Ellen Coats (Allen), Mitchell Davis, Thomas Burnette, and Holly Burnette; eleven Great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Leonard Pogue (Sylvia Ann), Margaret Watkins; sisters- in-law, Gerry Davis, and Ann Pogue, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by her parents Franklin and Thelis Pogue; brothers, Joe Pogue, Mack Pogue, Jack Pogue; sisters-in-law, Alice Davis, and Edna Pogue; brothers-in-law, Bernice Davis, Richard Watkins, and James Phil Davis.

The family would like to express special thanks to Shirley Brown and Rebecca Brown for their exceptional care and compassion while caring for Mrs. Davis.

The family request memorials be made as donations to Highland Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
