Funeral services for Wadell Byrd will be held Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Jeff Myers, Reverend Jim Rickles, and Reverend Greg Massey officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Byrd, age 80, of Meridian passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Rush Hospital.

Mr. Byrd retired from the Air National Guard as a Chief Master Sergeant after 42 years of service. He officiated football and baseball games for 25 years. He also coordinated Little League Baseball for many years. He was a member of 15th Avenue Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife; Fran Byrd of Meridian; his daughter, Suzy Byrd Nelson (William) of Meridian; son, Ken Byrd of Meridian; stepson, Dr. Mark Maffet (Lindsey) of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Brooke, Courtney (Guy), Callie (Gary), Chelsea, Bryce, Grace, Ava Kate and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Claire, Michael, Mason, Allie, Laurie and Emma; also his furry friends, Katy and Jack.

He is preceded in death by his parents, E.C. and Ruby Byrd and daughter; Kathy Nealey.
