Memorial services for Mr. David Hamilton will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Reverend Katie Sorey officiating. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to services. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
David Dunlap Hamilton, age 69, of Meridian passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
David attended Lamar School for most of his education, then transferred to Meridian High School for his senior year, graduating in 1975. After graduation, he attended Sante Fe Junior College in Gainesville, Florida and then he decided to move back to Meridian, MS to help his mother run the family business. While working, he also completed the Hotel and Restaurant Management program at Meridian Community College, graduating in 1980. David managed all operations of Hamilton Estate Inc. while also managing the Best Western Hotel of Meridian.
David was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church along with generations of his family.
David enjoyed spending time with his family, and he took planning family trips to a whole new level. Traveling with his family was a great joy in his life and especially traveling on the road less traveled. He loved to take his family on adventures.
David had several hobbies some of his favorites were fishing, hunting, stamp collecting, map reading, studying railroad and aviation history. He was a classic tinkerer.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lauretta Hamilton, children, William Kenan Hamilton and Hannah Hamilton Anderson (Collin), grandson, David Nicholas Anderson, siblings, B.J. Hamilton (Cindy) and Gayle Yochim (Al); nieces, Jennifer Brown, Benet' Moore-Pervez, and Jamie Moore, nephew, David Stuart Jacob and many loving cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anne Hamilton, brothers, Jeffery Hamilton and William Hamilton Jr. and sister, Marianne Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church music ministry.
