Funeral services for Mr. David E. “Great-One” Nance will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. The Reverend Matthew Stokley will officiate the service. Burial will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Mr. Nance, 66, of Meridian passed away on September 26, 2019 at his residence.
David was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, but he grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. He joined the United States Navy when he was 17 years old. While stationed in Meridian, Mississippi, at the Navy Base, he met the love of his life, with whom he spent the next forty-eight years, Catherine Ann Kelley Nance. David had a giving heart and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather or “great-one,” and friend. During his wife’s battle with Dementia, he was her faithful caregiver, who stood by her side until the very end.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Ann Kelley Nance and his parents, Richard S. Nance and Lee Pollock.
He is survived by his children, David Kelly Nance (Jessica) and Steven Nance; grandchildren, Shelby Baxley, Matthew Stokley (Jordan), Dylan Nance, and Kendall Nance; great-grandchildren, Maisyn Baxley and Ava Laine Sullivan; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Stokley, Dylan Nance, Kendall Nance, William "Blue" Deason, Steve Waltman, and Jack Rush. Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Bonner and David Bonner.
