Funeral services for Mr. David W. Purvis will begin at 12:00 PM Monday, January 8, 2024 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Kenneth Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Purvis, 69, of Meridian, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Ochsner Rush Medical Center in Meridian.

A devoted family man, David was a loving father and committed husband. A character to all who knew him, David was quick-witted, kind, energetic, and always ready with a quip to draw a smile and a laugh. A full-time advocate of Meridian’s business scene, David had his hand in many successful ventures throughout the decades. Between helping his father build a substantial financial institution in Financial Management Investment Corps, down to where he was most visible, Jean’s, David’s entrepreneurial spirit will be his lasting legacy. David loved people, and never was one to meet a stranger, but always found solitude in nature as an avid outdoorsman.

David is survived by his wife of over 35 years, Sara Upton Purvis; children Elic Purvis (Alex), Anna Carole Purvis, and Wesley Purvis; his brothers, Warren Purvis (Richard) and Tag Purvis (Pablo); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, his family at Jean’s, and his “adoptive” children, Leon Powell and Larry Dunn.

Mr. Purvis is preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Carole “Toni” Purvis.

The Purvis Family suggests memorials be made as donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
