Mr. Dewaine Flowers, age 90, of Collinsville passed away peacefully Monday, March 17, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.

Dewaine proudly served in the United States Navy, enlisting on October 10, 1953, where he served four honorable years alongside his unit, earning a Presidential Unit Citation and numerous other accolades. His service to his country was a source of pride that he carried throughout his life.

Beyond his military service, Dewaine made significant contributions to his community. He co-founded the Farmer's Co-op in Concordia, Louisiana, and later took on the role of an educator, sharing his passion for knowledge as a high school teacher at Southeast Lauderdale High School in Meridian, MS and serving as Assistant Principal at Sadie V. Thompson Middle School in Natchez, MS . His commitment to education was matched only by his dedication to his faith, serving as a deacon at Arkadelphia Baptist Church and teaching Sunday school at various churches throughout his life.

In 1977, Dewaine embraced a new venture by buying into the KOA Campground franchise, where he proudly built and managed the local campground in Toomsuba for over 12 years. His passion for the outdoors shone brightly in this endeavor, allowing him to share joy and adventure with countless families.

Dewaine was a loving husband to his wife, Patsy Flowers, and a devoted father who cherished every moment with his family, especially his granddaughter, Josselyn. His legacy will forever echo in the hearts of those he loved, illustrating what it means to live a generous and giving life.

In his quiet moments, Dewaine found joy in reading Western novels, watching Wheel of Fortune, strumming his guitar, playing the harmonica, singing, and enjoying the great outdoors. He approached life with a deep compassion for others and a warmth that will be sorely missed.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Patsy Flowers; daughter, Joy Flowers; granddaughter, Josselyn Cannon; sister, June Young; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Steven Flowers; parents, Arnold and Leona Flowers; brother, Charlie Pigford.
